Good news for foodies and travelers — the first season of Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations” is now available for download on iTunes. The hour-long show finds Tony traveling to locations far and wide, exploring the cuisine and the people. Some of my favorite segments in the first season include:
Uzbekistan: For some reason Tony undergoes a painful and disturbing massage/rub in an Uzbekistani bath house
Vietnam: The James Bond like boat ride and dinner at the Island of Mr. Sang.
Las Vegas: Tony breaks down and admits that there is some merit to Las Vegas restaurants.
Malaysia: Leech attack — it’s on the iTunes preview video, see it for yourself.
While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out Kitchen Confidential in hardcover or audiobook.

A funny find on YouTube. This is a World Cup 2006 Pepsi Ad which plays on Oktoberfest Bavarian traditions (or are they stereotypes?).
In the ad, several famous soccer players (Beckham, Ronaldinho, Raul, Henry, to name a few) arrive at and Oktoberfest-like celebration except it’s called Pepsifest and includes big mugs of Pepsi and lederhosen. The players show off their great talents and skill, but the real kicker (no pun intended) is the interpretation of Trio’s “Da Da Da” by the Germans.
The ad is part of a Pepsi promotion which will include games and player-branded cans. So far we know it’s in Thailand, but sure it’ll appear in other places. You can read more details in this press release.
